 In one of my earlier posts, Omi Akoko, I wrote about how names and their meanings fascinate me, especially names of places- streets, towns, cities, even countries. I believe behind every place and name, there is a story. And I have heard a number of stories that I would like to share. In many instances, I may not be able to substantiate the stories and sources but what I promise is to do as much investigation and digging as I possibly can before publishing any of them. I do hope that readers will also help corroborate or even challenge the veracity of some of these stories. The objective is that someday, I would have been able to put together a repository of some sort that would be of use to someone one day who may want to understand why a place is called what it is called.
You are all invited to join me on this quest. I bet it would be very revealing and exciting.
A note of warning though, the stories may not always be fun, happy and exciting but whatever they are, be sure they would give some insight into who we are as a people and how people before us lived and what they believed.
